About the Defense Capability Exchange
The Defense Capability Exchange connects defense companies with the buyers, prime contractors, partners and investors that need what they make, and introduces them.
Who we are
The Exchange is built and run by The Defense Post, an independent news publication covering defense and security around the world. Our newsroom follows contracts, programmes, budgets and the companies behind them every day. The Exchange turns that knowledge into something practical: helping the right companies find each other.
Why it exists
Defense deals start with the right conversation, but finding the right counterpart is slow. Suppliers spend months at trade shows and on cold emails. Primes and buyers struggle to find capable smaller firms. Good companies go unnoticed because nobody knows they exist. The Exchange shortens that search.
How it works
- Profiles. We have built profiles of tens of thousands of defense and security companies, government buyers, investors and industry associations from public sources such as company websites, contract announcements, government procurement data and trade show exhibitor lists. Each profile links to its source. Companies can claim their profile for free, correct it and add what they need.
- Matching. Every profile lists what a company offers and what it needs, using one shared list of capabilities. We match the two sides in both directions: who can supply you, and who needs what you make.
- Introductions. When a member asks to meet a match, we take the request to that company personally, under The Defense Post name, by email, LinkedIn, phone or at a show. When both sides agree, we introduce them.
- Events. Members see upcoming trade shows, who exhibits there that matches them, and the other members going, and book meetings before they travel.
- Opportunities. Contract awards, tenders and programmes from our newsroom, tagged by capability, so members see the ones that fit them first.
Confidential by design
Matches see an anonymous summary of each company, never its name or contact details. A company's name is shown only to companies it asks to meet, and contact details are shared only when both sides agree. Only public, unclassified business information belongs on the Exchange.
What we are not
We are an introduction service, not a broker, agent or party to any deal. We do not take commissions or success fees on contracts or investments, and nothing on the Exchange is investment, legal or export control advice. Members are responsible for their own compliance, including export control and sanctions law. The Terms of Service explain this in full.
